PETE WINSTANLEY claims that those living in taxpayer subsidised housing have a right to a spare bedroom (HAS, 20 Mar).

I live in a group of small terraced houses (privately owned) where I imagine at least half the residents don’t have a spare bedroom.

Certainly I don’t.

Do we take it that everyone in the country can apply to the taxpayer for money to enable them to afford a spare bedroom?

The Tory’s handling of this issue many not be perfect, but Mr Winstanley goes too far in the opposite direction.
