THE other morning my wife told me she’d heard a rustling noise in the living room.
We searched high and low, worried that it might be mice. We even got down on our hands and knees to see whether a bird had fallen down the chimney flue.
Eventually we realised where the noise was coming from – it was the daffodils.
The day before my wife had put some in water and, because they were tightly bunched, they’d rustled against each other as they opened.
Coincidentally this was on the same morning that The Northern Echo had carried a photo of two dales lambs standing on their mother. Spring is here.
