IN my role as a guide dog mobility instructor I have the privilege of seeing the life-changing difference a guide dog makes for someone who is blind or partially-sighted.

The increased mobility and independence that these amazing dogs provide is incredible.

I would like to appeal for volunteer training dog boarders in Ingleby Barwick, Yarm and the surrounding areas to assist me in the process of preparing trainee guide dogs to meet their new owners and start their lifechanging work.

In this vital role, dogs are boarded in their down time from training in a volunteer’s home overnight and at weekends for up to 12 weeks.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who loves dogs, but possibly isn’t able to commit to long-term ownership, to make a real difference to the lives of others and enjoy the benefits of having a dog in their lives. Induction, training and ongoing support are provided for volunteer boarders.

If you think you could be a training dog boarder and would like to find out more please contact newcastle@guidedogs.
