POPE Francis has already angered some people in this country by openly showing support for Argentina’s claim to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

The Pope has considerable influence around the world, particularly within the Americas, and only time will tell where the present situation will lead.

But if Pope Francis continues to show such support, or uses his position to try to influence the situation, he risks fueling sectarianism within parts of the United Kingdom.

Forcing the Falkland Islands to come under Argentinean rule has the potential for another Falklands conflict.

Would the Pope accept even partial responsibility for any dire consequences which may result from his actions?
