THE Government has axed thousands of public sector jobs and cut many vital services.
On November 15, it plans to give 41 lucrative part-time jobs to people who, in the main, will be already wealthy retired executives of something or other.
With salaries ranging from £65,000 to £100,000, plus the obligatory expenses, the idea will cost the taxpayer millions, in some cases to employ people who have no experience of policing.
One of our candidates is chairman of the Newcastle NHS Trust.
Surely if he is dedicating enough time and effort to such an important task he should not have time for another job?
It seems to me that the Government’s answer to all our problems is to throw a bit more money at the rich.
