RECENTLY retired generals and assorted other top brass have been accused of lobbying MPs and ministers on behalf of arms firms (Echo, Oct 15).

People like Admiral Sir Trevor Soar and General Lord Richard Dannatt are already enjoying pensions that the rank and file can only dream of. Apparently, it’s not enough.

If Lord Dannatt is feeling under the weather he can go to the House of Lords, sit in those comfortable leather seats and snooze the day away while getting paid hundreds of pounds.

I remember an interview on US television many years ago about John Paul Getty Jnr.

The interviewer asked: “Mr Getty you are one of the richest men in the world, what would you consider enough money?”

Getty answered: “Just a little bit more.”
