THE story of how Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook formed rock band Squeeze in 1974 is a fascinating one, with their pre-fame proving ground seeing them moving in the same circles as a thenunknown Dire Straits.
Once they found success, on the back of their fourth single Cool for Cats, their story didn’t become any less interesting, however.
To date they’ve disbanded twice, and the band has a list of former members as long as a Premier League football side’s squad list – with notable musicians including Paul Carrack, Nick Harper and even Jools Holland all having come and gone through the years.
In Squeeze: Take Me I’m Yours the pair discuss writing and recording many of the group’s greatest songs, and reflect on the highs and lows of their friendship. Contributions come from Holland and Carrack, who discuss working with the duo, as well as fellow famous faces Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler and Aimee Mann.
