Perez Hilton Superfan: Lady Gaga (ITV2, 10pm)
THE future of Location Location Location seems uncertain – there have been rumours it’s being axed – but at least its presenters Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer have other work to do.
Tonight, they figure separately in two C4 shows. First up is Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas – a two-part festival version of her craft show.
Of course, if you are planning on going handmade this December 25, then you’d better get a wriggle on – there’s less than a fortnight to go.
The first programme sees her tackle the 12 Crafts of Christimas while transforming her Devon house into a winter wonderland and making stocking fillers for under the tree.
But that’s not enough for our Kirst – oh, no! She’ll also be talking us through the potentially tricky world of wreath and garland-making, and showing the way when it comes to creating snow globes and gingerbread.
Plus, tips on dressing the perfect tree and wrapping presents.
PHIL’S Empty House Giveaway gives the other half of the duo the chance to go solo. He’s meeting those people most severely affected by the housing crisis and attempting to put a roof over their heads.
He targets private homeowners whose properties have been sitting empty for a while. His hope is that he can persuade them to let him renovate the property and then let it to the homeless.
He certainly has his work cut out this time.
DING, dong – as Leslie Phillips might have said on learning of a TV show entitled Come Bell Ringing with Charles Hazlewood. You might not have thought it possible to get an hour’s worth of viewing out of the musical potential of church bells, but Hazlewood never misses a beat.
The award-winning composer explores the world of bell ringing, investigating the sounds and designs of instruments, including handbells and the organ-like carillon.
He’ll also be analysing the musical possibilities of church bells and creating a composition bringing together the bells of three separate church towers.
THE final episode of Frozen Planet examines how rising temperatures are taking their toll on the Poles, and the implications that may have for their inhabitants.
David Attenborough himself stands at the North Pole on ice several metres thick, and reveals that scientists think the same spot could be open water within the next few decades. He also highlights the difficulties polar bears and their cubs are having, in particular finding enough food to eat.
Later, he returns to Antarctic glaciers photographed by Shackleton’s expedition a century ago, and compares the shots to how the landscape looks today – and the difference is shocking.
As for Attenborough, there’s no time for him to put his feet up. He already has his next project in development – an indepth, 3D insight into Kew Gardens, in West London. At least it’s a warmer subject.
TWO of the biggest personalities in showbiz clash in Perez Hilton Superfan: Lady Gaga, and it turns out American blogger Hilton is no stranger to the pop superstar. They are best friends, so we get to see the blonde phenomenon as we’ve never seen her before.
Perez will be spending time in Hollywood with Gaga, before the pair jet off to Sydney, Australia. And there will be all sorts in between, from cooking in pyjamas to behind-the-scenes access at the star’s dress rehearsals and concerts.
“I can’t wait to make sweet love to the airwaves of British television! We will be making lots of babies!” says Hilton.
“And I’m thrilled that our first episode is a very special look at the intimate life of one of the biggest superstars on the planet and one of my best friends, Lady Gaga.”
