Lewis & Cooper has been a household name for decades. It’s a sign of its popularity that the company is able to open a new branch in Yarm.
ONE of the region’s bestloved TV personalities is opening a new fine food store in Yarm next week. Lewis & Cooper has already opened the doors to the new outlet, having moved across the road from a smaller concession within Strickland & Holt, but at 11am on Tuesday, the ITV Tyne Tees presenter and local resident Pam Royle will officially open the refitted store, at 109 High Street.
A host of special offers and tastings from local and regional suppliers are planned on the day and over the coming months.
“From being a very small child, I remember our family visits to Lewis & Cooper in Northallerton. I always thought it was like an Aladdin’s cave of goodies, and the rich smell of ground coffee beans was the first thing that used to hit me as we entered the shop,” says Ms Royle.
The North-East Tonight presenter has a keen interest in good food and has hosted the Flavours of Hambleton food and drink awards for several years.
Lewis & Cooper has been trading from its famous Northallerton store for nearly 11 decades. It opened the small outlet within Strickland & Holt, the familyowned department store, eight years ago.
Offering what the supermarkets cannot, the new Yarm store will stock an extensive range of delicatessen and dried goods, as well as traditional sweets.
Many products are sourced locally or made in the firm’s own kitchens, such as cheeses from the Dales, York hams, cooked meats and coffees freshly-roasted at the Northallerton store.
