THE title may have led a few people to expect another documentary about Travellers, but anyone who tuned into the first series of My Mad Fat Diary was instead treated to a touching, funny coming-of-age drama, based on the real-life teenage diaries of Rae Earl.
Oh, and if you happened to have been a teen during the heady days of Britpop, then the 1990s setting and soundtrack provided an extra jolt of nostalgia.
So it’s great to see Rae (Sharon Rooney) back for a second series, and still together with boyfriend Finn (Nico Mirallegro).
However, it looks like her summer of love may not last long, as her insecurities threaten her relationship, and she starts to panic about heading to college. And then there is her therapist Kester (Ian Hart), who will insist that she has to face the truth about what happened to her fragile friend Tix (Sophie Wright).
