SCANDINAVIAN detective fiction has become a cult obsession in Britain. But it seems the cultural exchange works both ways – the very British Midsomer Murders is a ratings smash in Denmark.
So, what better way for Barnaby and Nelson to celebrate the show’s 100th episode than by launching a joint investigation with the Copenhagen police force? And just to give it even more crossover appeal, it guest stars Ann Eleonora Jorgensen, of The Killing, and Borgen’s Birgitte Hjort Sorensen.
The case involves Eric Calder, head of a Midsomer biscuit company who is poisoned by a tin of his own Golden Clusters while on a business trip to Copenhagen.
As the package was sent from Midsomer, detective Birgitte Poulsen asks Barnaby to look into it, but even in Badger’s Drift, the Danish references keep stacking up, especially when Eric’s son Harry finds himself in his very own version of Hamlet when he catches his mum in bed with his uncle.
