THE last series of The Big Reunion proved that being in a pop group in the 1990s and Noughties was definitely not as much fun as it looked.
Yet that has not discouraged another batch of former pop idols, including Eternal, 3T and A1, from signing up for the new run. In fact, one group of singers are so keen to get involved, they are even forming a new band. But we will get to 5th Story, the supergroup consisting of Adam Rickitt, Dane Bowers, Gareth Gates, Kavana and Kenzie in later episodes, as the first instalment largely concentrates on R&B group Damage and Girl Thing.
If the latter don’t sound familiar, they were launched by Simon Cowell in a blaze of publicity and hyped as the new Spice Girls. The industry was so convinced they were going to be huge, the members prerecorded an interview to celebrate their first number one before the charts were even announced.
So, when their debut single actually peaked at number eight, it was a huge anti-climax. And there were bigger disappointments to come.
