SO far during Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild, we’ve seen him roughing it in some fairly extreme conditions, but in the last episode, he gets to experience a little bit of comfort. He’s in Texas to meet John Wells, a former fashion photographer who gave up a 32-acre New York estate and a six-figure salary to live in a shack in the Chihuahuan Desert.
However, Ben won’t be sharing the scrap-wood and iron bedroom with his host – he’s been given his own trailer next door. That’s not the only luxury on offer, because John has a solar-powered freezer and telephone, as well as access to the internet, which Fogle uses to check the weather back in England.
But it’s not all sitting in his trailer or surfing the web, as the presenter is also given lessons in handling John’s collection of guns, as well as the tricky job of keeping Carl the rooster awake at night so he doesn’t start crowing too early in the morning.
