BETTYS Cookery School in Harrogate is launching a special occasion course on decorating Christmas cakes “the Bettys way”.

Cake decorating experts from the bakery will join school tutors to share their craft skills with participants who will learn how to create a beautifully iced cake decorated with a Christmas scene, including step-by-step instructions for modelling decorative features and piping techniques such as beading and writing.

A six-inch Bettys fruit cake will be provided for students, along with useful tips and a royal icing demonstration.

The Icing on the Cake course runs on Friday, December 14, and Sunday, December 16, from 9am to 5pm and costs £175. The class includes a two-course lunch, refreshments from Bettys Bakery, a cookery school apron and a folder with recipes and piping techniques.

Bettys Cookery School is also holding a number of its highly popular Christmas Cakes & Puddings courses in October.

There is still some availability on the following dates: Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26.
