Stylist Lindsay Campbell picks out some of the season’s key looks.
YOUNG fashion stylist Lindsay Campbell has been making a name for herself in the fashion world in the last three years, but her passion for fashion started when she was still a little girl in pigtails.
“I have been interested in fashion since I can remember,” says the 25- year-old, who was born in Edinburgh.
“My mother would never let me dress in clothes that other kids had. She made all my clothes for me.
With time I started to want to be different myself and was frustrated about seeing the same regurgitated fashions on everyone. And I always read fashion magazines, like Vogue, from the age of 12.”
With a strong creative streak in her blood, Lindsay chose to do a fine art degree, followed by a post-graduate qualification in Fashion Styling for the Media.
A big move towards her chosen career as fashion stylist came when Lindsay started designing window displays for Topshop, and later working with an advertising company on its campaigns.
In the last three years Lindsay, who’s now a fully-fledged, self-employed fashion stylist, has travelled all over the world working with some of the country’s finest fashion photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists and models, as well as a selection of celebrities, such as Andi McDowell, Sean Connery and Lorraine Kelly.
“I’m very lucky that the people I work for now give me pretty much free reign to do what I like, which allows me to really express my creativity.
This is my absolute dream job,” says Lindsay.
Lindsay chose clothes from fashion outlets at The Bridges shopping centre in the heart of Sunderland to show how to work some of the season’s key looks.
■ The Bridges is open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm Sunday.
■ Winners of the Bridges shopping cards in our recent competition were D Blacklock, South Shields; B Thompson, Thornaby; V Moyes, Sunderland.
