PEACHES Geldof was so busy talking on her phone while pushing baby Astala in his buggy, that she didn’t see the pot-hole... Over went the buggy and buried little Astala somewhere under his blankets.
And even while she rushed to pick him up, Peaches still had her phone glued to her ear. Class.
I occasionally get emails from readers saying the reason so many children are so slow at learning to speak is because they face away from their mothers, not as in old-fashioned prams when mother and baby looked at each other all the time.
But if mother’s busy on the phone all the time, then baby might as well face out towards the world and have something more interesting to look at.
Still, let’s give Peaches a break. I once pushed Senior Son and his buggy straight into a hedge, because I was too busy talking to my real life companion alongside me. Show me a mother who gives her baby 100 per cent total attention and I’ll show you someone who’s probably slightly strange.
Well, that’s my excuse anyway.
