OUR hearts go out to Kellyanne Bell and her two children, whose story is featured on page one of today’s paper.
Doctors were shocked when Kellyanne’s daughter, Stephanie, fell ill with leukaemia, only two years after her son, Daniel, had been given the all-clear following a 12-month course of chemotherapy.
As parents, we all want the best for our children and hope that they will never come to harm, or suffer a serious illness.
Imagine just how devastating it must be to be told your son or daughter has cancer. Then think how traumatic it would be if your second child fell ill with a completely unrelated cancer.
The odds against that happening must be astronomical.
Thankfully, Daniel is now fighting fit and his big sister is doing well. We applaud their courage and hope Stephanie makes a full recovery soon.
