"The West End gets all the money"? was the comment in your article “A walk along Darlington’s ‘dirty and forgotten’ road” (Echo, May 28).
What I have seen in the West End are public-minded and usually elderly people walking about with bags picking up litter.
What I haven't seen are backyards full to the brim with mattresses and wood.
Will somebody please explain to me how that is the fault of the council or any political party.
As usual the word "vermin" appears.

Could we not confine its application to the two-legged variety who dumped the rubbish there?
Jo Jones, Darlington.
P.S. Having said that, West End roads are far from perfect.
