LAURA Pidcock, recently elected MP for North West Durham has said that she could never be friends with a Tory. She clearly loathes them en masse. “It’s visceral,” she says.
Fair enough. We’re all free to choose our friends as and where we like.
But such aggressive blanket condemnation of her parliamentary colleagues, or “enemies” as she calls them – especially when she’s just landed there and has not even had the chance to get to know them – reeks of immaturity and a totally closed mind. Never a good look in an apparently intelligent person.
Ironically, she used to work for an anti-racism organisation so presumably knows all about closed minds and an unwillingness to engage with people she thinks she doesn’t like..
Still, at 29, she’s still young. Plenty of time yet.
