AT the age of 68, Rod Stewart has a new topselling album, Time, at number one – for the first time in 34 years and his 15th number one.

Most of the tracks he wrote himself because, he says, he’s got back into song-writing.

He reckons the music business, playing football and his children – he has eight – keeps him young. He’s also a model railway enthusiast and even has his own layout of the East Coast line.

Next year he’s off on tour, which is going to confuse his youngest son – he thinks daddy is a plumber.
