COMMANDER Chris Hadfield has suddenly made space travel fascinating again. He’s the Canadian astronaut that signed off his tour of duty in the international space station with his version of David Bowie’s Space Oddity.
But for five months he’s been doing a great job of educating and entertaining. He’s tweeted from space, answered questions from students and sent photos and video clips to YouTube. He’s cleaned his teeth, cried and done his washing to camera, showing us the weird effects of gravity.
There was the Christmas tree on the ceiling and the Scrabble board stuck with glue.
Above all, there was his enthusiasm for what he was doing.
“When I turn upside down and move across ceilings and walls I feel like Spiderman, except this is real.”
Inspirational. Share it with your children, if they haven’t already found him.
It’s almost enough to make me want to do A-level Physics. Almost.
