An application for outline planning permission for a residential development of three homes at land at 15 to 20 Chapel Street, Thirsk, has been submitted to Hambleton District Council.

The site is located to the north of Thirsk Leisure Centre car park, between Nursery Mews and Chapel Street.

It is located centrally within Thirsk and is within easy walking distance of the town centre. It is surrounded by two to four storey residential buildings, the majority of which are newly built, with limited external amenity space.

The area is very much a part of town where former industrial and commercial buildings are being replaced with modern residential properties at comparatively high density.

The wider site includes three buildings, of which two are within the applicants ownership.

The site benefits from two buildings on the site already. There are no site features worthy of retention, and the buildings on site are not considered of architectural or historical value.

The buildings have not been in commercial use for approximately 10 years and so the loss of the use for this purpose will not be detrimental to the local economy.
