A UNIVERSITY student has signed up for a 100-mile challenge cycling from London to Surrey in aid of charity.
Lewis Hawkes, 22, is taking part in the Prudential Ride London next year to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to his heart as his grandmother was diagnosed with the devastating illness two years ago.
The Teesside University student said: “I want to give to Alzheimer’s Society because I know firsthand how awful it is not only for the person suffering but also for friends and family.”
In 2015 he cycled from Kent to Amsterdam raising £327, also for Alzheimer’s. This year he rode more than 200 miles to Paris in just four days.
“I think it is good to push yourself and to set yourself targets. To do big events like these is a perfect way to do that and to also travel the world at the same time,” he added.
To take part in the 2017 charity ride, the animation and visual effects graduate has to raise £600 to be awarded his entry ticket.
