A STOCKTON nursery has been given the thumbs up from Ofsted inspectors after being rated as “good”.

Little Ladybirds Day Nursery was praised in a number of areas, including how it supported children with additional needs and how staff and parents worked together to promote learning, and wellbeing.

Inspectors said that to achieve an “outstanding” status in its next report it would have to provide more learning resources for children aged 15 months to two years, and encourage staff to ask more open-ended questions to the children.

The inspector said: “Children are happy and eager to learn. Their behaviour is good and they make independent choices about their play. This supports them in developing a positive attitude to school and future learning.”

Catherine Mason, manager of Little Ladybirds, which is based on the Preston Farm Industrial Estate in Stockton, said: “We would like to thank our staff and parents for their support. They all play a part in making the nursery what it is.

“Our next inspection will be in three years so between now and then we will continue to make improvements with a view to achieving outstanding status.”
