EXCAVATION works are under way this afternoon(Wednesday, February 19) to locate a gas escape near a busy Middlesbrough junction.
Lane restrictions will be in place on the eastbound carriageway of Borough Road prior to the junction with Marton Road.
Northern Gas Networks are unable to predict how long it will be before the problem is rectified but delays are inevitable, especially during peak periods.
Anyone who smells gas should ring the national gas emergency service, any time, day or night on 0800 111 999.

MOZART’S MUSIC: MIDDLESBROUGH’S classical concert series continues tomorrow night (Thursday, February 20) when the widely-acclaimed Royal Northern Sinfonia bring a touch of Mozart to Teesside. Royal Northern Sinfonia will perform Mozart’s Overture Cosi fan tutte and his Piano Concerto No 21 in C, together with Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending and Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D, at Middlesbrough Town Hall at 7.45pm. SINGERS WANTED: The Levendale Singers are looking for new members particularly altos, basses and tenors but all are welcome. We do not audition all we ask is a love of singing. CHARITY FUNDRAISER: A coffee morning with bacon and sausage buns will be held at Saltburn Methodist hall, Milton Street, on Saturday (February 22) starting at 10am until lunchtime in aid of cash-strapped Saltburn youth project Doorways. Project manager John Pearson said the response to an appeal for funds was going well with over £6,000 raised in a month. Doorways moves into an upstairs office at the Destinations cafe, Station Street, next month (March).
