A MAJOR exhibition by 200 student designers will open on Thursday, June 6.
As well as the costumes, set designs, textiles and jewellery there will be street theatre and outdoor games at Hartlepool Art Gallery in Church Square, Hartlepool between 6pm and 9pm.
The theme of this year’s show by the Cleveland College of Art and Design students is Beach meets Baroque.
On display will be an impressive range of creations by the students including: * Award-winning textiles which have featured in trade shows in Paris and New York.
* A collection of ceramics, jewellery and textile products created by the next generation of designer-makers.
* Mens,’ women’s and children’s fashions recently on show in London during Graduate Fashion Week.
* A wide range of costumes for stage and screen including period, fantasy, and adaptions from movies and theatre.
*Props and set design work which have sparked interest from a major visual production company.
* Short creative films and documentaries.
* Fine art photography and commercial photography which will be on show in London.
Liam Bradley, Marketing Officer for Cleveland College of Art and Design, said: “We are a major art and design centre for the North-East and our mission is to set trends rather than to follow them.”
Entry to the exhibition is free. It will continue at the multiple venues, including college buildings, in Church Square at various times in the weeks ahead. The costume element of the exhibition will continue at Hartlepool Art Gallery until Saturday, June 29.
