MAN ASSAULTED: A man was assaulted as he made his way home from a night out in Redcar at around 2.10am on Saturday morning. The victim was attacked by a man riding a bike as he walked along Stanley Grove in the town. The attacker is described as 5ft 8ins tall, white, of slim build with short fair hair. He was wearing a light grey v-neck shirt. The victim required medical attention for his injuries and he has been left badly shaken up. Anyone with information is urged to call Redcar and Cleveland CID on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
TOMATO CLUB: Stockton Borough Council’s Tees Achieve working in partnership with ‘Little Sprouts’, a local food education and nursery caterer, will be celebrating Healthy Eating Week (June 3 to 7) with the launch of The Tomato Club. The homemade Tomato Sauce made by local schoolchildren will be for sale at Stockton’s Wednesday market on June 5 from 10am to 2pm.
SUMMER SOUL: Emma Wilson will be bringing some summer solstice soul to Guisborough Cricket Club on Friday, June 21 at 7.30pm. Music will be a mix of Motown, Blues Brothers and Aretha Franklin. Tickets cost £10 and are available on the door at the club on Rectory Lane.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING: The South Bank Eco Village has been named as one of the top 50 affordable housing developments completed in 2012 by ‘Inside Housing’ magazine. Built by Gentoo, the project was an integral part of Redcar and Cleveland Council's multi-million pound regeneration programme for South Bank and has proved to be a great success. The £3.5m Eco Village was completed in March 2012.
CORONATION TEA: Guisborough & District Friends of Cancer Research UK are holding a Coronation afternoon tea on Tuesday, June 18 at St Nicholas Church Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough between 2pm and 4pm. DANCE SHOW: The Phoenix Dance Theatre will be presenting REfined (correct) at Loftus Town Hall on Wednesday (June 5) at 7.30pm. The show is a mixed programme packed with solos, duets, trios and quartets plucked from some of Phoenix’s most popular pieces from the last five years.
