A PAIR of keen motorcyclists have set off on a fundraising adventure at a more sedate pace than usual.
Lee Robinson and Graham Snaith are the first people to take part in the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group’s latest fundraising initiative the Coast 2 Coast or Beacon 2 Beacon event.
This morning (Sunday) they set off from the Redcar Beacon on 50cc mopeds to travel the 140 miles.
The Coast 2 Coast involves entrants travelling from Redcar Beacon to Whitehaven Beacon and entrants can enter the event at any time during the year.
The Deputy Leader of Redcar and Cleveland Council Sheelagh Clarke waved them off this morning.
Entrants can start or finish at either beacon but they are required to visit a number of locations in between Redcar and Whitehaven.
This is the first Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group event which is also open to pedal cyclists.
Brian Laverick, who helps to run the group, said: “There is a lot of interest in this latest Boundary Challenge and a number of members are buying mopeds for a mass entry ride later in September.”
