A FILM about one of Teesside’s best known firms will be screened for the first time at an engineering festival in Stockton.
‘A Pride Job’ explores the work of the Head Wrightson engineering plant, the people who worked there and its impact within the local area.
Using archive footage and interviews with former workers, Derek Smith, the film's producer from Thornaby, aims to give an insight into the unsung heroes of the war effort.
“Whole families worked there for generations and the link between work and community was remarkable,” he said.
“I set out to record the experiences of the everyday drillers, welders and platers as well as management who made a remarkable contribution to the war effort as well as the post war reconstruction of Britain.”
The three day Riveting Stuff festival, which explores Teesside’s engineering history begins on Friday (MAY 31) at the Tees Barrage in Stockton. Screenings of A Pride Job will be shown on June 1 and 2.
Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ken Dixon, added: "Head Wrightson is an important part of the borough's history and more than deserving of its own film.
“We're proud to be chosen to be the venue for the film's first public screening."
