Workers for one of Britain’s biggest shops lined up against each other in a charity football match.
Staff at Sainsbury’s supermarkets took on their counterparts from Sainsbury’s Local stores in the match to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
Players, drawn from stores across Cleveland, were sponsored to play and raised £630. All of the money will go to support the charity’s work in the North-East.
The game, which is now in its fourth year, was played at Guisborough Town’s ground. It finished 5-1 to the Local team.
Sarah Zissler, of GNAAS, said: “On behalf of everyone at the charity, I would just like to thank all those involved in this fantastic annual event. Without support like this, our aircraft would not be able to come to the aid of residents in need.”
The game was organised by Sainsbury’s Local staff from the Hunters Hill, Avenue and Marske stores.
