A WEST END career beckons for a talented teenager who has been offered a half scholarship to a top London theatre school - but she needs her own fairy godmother to make her dreams come true.

Amelia Jade Wilde, known as AJ, has been accepted at the prestigious Barbara Speake Stage School, which boasts an alumni including singer, Phil Collins, Oliver! actor, Jack Wild, and supermodel, Naomi Campbell.

However, unless she can find a total of £12,000 to fund her secondary education by May 24 the coveted place will be given to another hopeful.

“When she started talking she said I want to be a ballerina so I thought I will look into it and she has never looked back," said her mother, Kirsty Wilde. "Then she started singing lessons and it spiralled from there.”

The 13-year-old from Roseworth in Stockton is a regular at the town’s Bobby Dazzlers Academy where she has performed in several productions and took the lead role in the musical, Annie, at the Billingham Forum.

“The email from Barbara Speake said anybody can get to a stage school but it takes somebody special to get a scholarship,” added Miss Wilde. “The audition panel thought she was extra special and would benefit from studying there as they could see her potential.

“Without help it will be impossible for her to go as we cannot afford it,” she added. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Emma Risbrough, principal at Bobby Dazzlers, said: “There’s no doubt that AJ is incredibly talented. She had the main role in Annie and the whole audience was crying. It is heart-breaking to know that going to London is possibly not going to happen.”
