Two fire crews were called to a small oil spillage on the A66 sliproad of the northbound carriageway of the A19 today (WED) at about 12.20pm. One fire engine from Middlesbrough Fire Station and one from Thornaby were called to the scene and had cleaned the fuel by 12.35pm.

POETRY NIGHT: Middlesbrough Central Library is hosting an evening of poetry tomorrow (March 28) from 6.30pm. It has been chosen to host the county finals of the Poetry By Heart competition aimed at 14 to 18-year-olds before the finals in London next month. Admission is free.

STUDENT DIGS: A planning application for a new students’ hall of residence at Teesside University with up to 250 bedrooms is due to be discussed by Middlesbrough Council’s planning committee on Friday, April 5. Empirica Investments wants to build the accommodation in the town’s Linthorpe Road.

FUN DAY: An Easter fun day is taking place on Good Friday, March 29, at Wellington Square in Stockton where there will be face painting, balloon modelling and a teacup and saucer ride from 10am to 3pm.

MIMA KIDS: Creative workshops for eight to 12-year-olds is being held at mima gallery of modern art in Middlesbrough on Friday, April 5, and Friday, April 12, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Sessions costing £5 each will include printing, drawing, creative games and refreshments. Adults do not need to accompany their children.
