AN MP has pledged his support for a charity campaign to boost single parent employment.

Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North, agreed to support the Gingerbread charity campaign after learning 33 per cent of families in his constituency are headed by single parents.

The charity has launched a three-year campaign called Make it Work for Single Parents. It is calling on the government to commit to increasing single parent employment.

ENORMOUS TURNIP: A play for pre-school children titled The Enormous Turnip will be staged at The Arc in Stockton from today, Monday, March 25 until Saturday, April 6. The story is about keen gardeners who accidentally grow an enormous turnip, threatening their house with disaster and is staged by the Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company. The play is suitable for children aged two and over and entry costs £9, or £32 for a family ticket. Times vary.
