THE A66 across the Pennines has been reopened to high sided vehicles after being closed for almost six hours because of strong winds.
The road was closed to high siders between Bowes, County Durham and Brough in Cumbria at about 11am.
At 4.30pm, Durham Police and the Highways Agency said wind speeds have now lessened, and the road has reopened to high sided vehicles.
