England goalkeeper Mary Earps received the Golden Glove award following her team’s defeat to Spain in the Women’s World Cup final.
In the match today (August 20), Earps was able to save a penalty from Spain’s Jennifer Hermoso.
The penalty came after Keira Walsh’s handball but the score didn’t change as Earps calmly saved the shot, to England’s delight.
Unfortunately, with the Lionesses not putting the ball in the back of the net themselves, Spain went on to win the game 1-0, becoming world champions.

Mary Earps receives Golden Glove award following 2023 World Cup run
The 30-year-old started all six games for the Lionesses at the Euros in 2022.
Earps has thrived since becoming Wiegman’s first choice between the sticks and last year won the Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award after conceding just two goals and keeping four clean sheets in England’s Euro 2022-winning campaign.
The Manchester United keeper then won the Women’s Super League Golden Gloves Award after setting a new record of 14 clean sheets for the season.
