Fans of the UK Netflix series Heartstopper have been teased by the TV streaming platform ahead of the second series.

Eager viewers have been treated to a glimpse of what to expect in the new series as a collection of pictures have been posted on the Netflix Twitter account, including some familiar faces.

The next release of one of Netflix’s most popular shows is only a matter of months away, as it was reported that we would see Joe Locke and Kit Connor as Charlie and Nick on our screens once more this summer.

What is Heartstopper on Netflix about?

Joe and Kit became an overnight success as the nation fell in love with their character’s storylines.

“Teens Charlie and Nick discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love in this coming-of-age series,” reports IMDb.

The synopsis for Heartstopper season two reads: "Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends.

"With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship."

In one photo, Charlie and Nick can be seen looking very smitten with each other while on a school trip to Paris.

Another shows Tara and Darcy, who are played by Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell, cosying up together on a rooftop.

Tao and Elle, played by William Gao and Yasmin Finney, can be seen in a separate photo enjoying a visit to the cinema – and it doesn’t get more romantic than that.

The connection between the two friends took off in the final of the first series.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “OMGOMGOMG SCREAMING LOOK AT ALL OF THEM THEY LOOK SO CONFIDENT AND CUTE AND PERFECT AND I'M RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO SAY.”

While another posted: “Omg! My comfort people are coming back!”
