British tourists have been filmed frantically scrambling for pool loungers after the demand for the popular item far surpassed supply.

The scenes showed Brits rushing to reserve themselves a sunbed before 8 am with the TikTok video amassing thousands of views.

The video played with the Mario Kart tune over it and showed a wave of tourists attempting to get their towels on the seats.

The TikTok video was captioned: "Sunbed Wars 😂. My wife told me that everyone races each morning to get sunbeds, I didn’t believe her!"

The video opens with the poster looking at his watch to reveal it was a quarter to eight.

The event took place at the Bahia Principe Hotel, in Tenerife, a popular holiday destination for Brits.

There have been other videos showing similar scenes with many also dubbing this the 'Sunbed Wars'.

Users were quick to slam the scenes in Tenerife with one calling the incident "hideous".

Another said "This isn’t a holiday" to which the original poster added: "Some of them were waiting there from 0720!"

One user added: "Which hotel is this. Need to avoid. Can’t be doing with that nonsense" while another jokingly said: "Needs the wacky races theme."
