A new social media company is being launched by former US President Donald Trump.
Trump announced that he will be launching a new media company with its own social media platform.
It comes nine months after he was expelled from social media following the storming of the Capitol building in Washington DC on January 6.
Trump said his goal for Trump Media & Technology Group and the social app, Truth Social, was to create a rival to the Big Tech companies that shut him out.
In a statement, the former President said: “I created Truth Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.
“I am excited to send out my first Truth on Truth Social very soon.
“TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on Truth Social and to fight back against Big Tech.
“Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon.”
Trump has spoken in the past about launching his own social media site after being banned from Twitter and Facebook.
A previous attempt to launch a blog was abandoned after his existing website drew poor views.
