PLANS to secure the future of a leisure farm in Middlesbrough are being drawn up.
Newham Grange Leisure Farm, in Coulby Newham, draws more than 30,000 visitors a year, with animals, pony rides, a petting area, miniature golf and a shop and cafe.
The farm operation transferred to Askham Bryan College in 2014 as part of its expansion into Middlesbrough, which included the redevelopment of the stable block of Stewart Park.
But the agricultural college transferred the farm back to Middlesbrough Council in August.
Now there are plans to improve the offer at the farm to help increase visitor numbers.
The farm sits on the site of a working farm, dating back to the 17th century, and has been run as a leisure farm since the 1970s.
Investment options, are being considered with detailed plans being drawn up and considered by Middlesbrough Council early next year.
Work will take place over the next six months but the farm will remain open.
