MIDDLESBROUGH Labour Party has selected Andy McDonald as its candidate to replace the late Sir Stuart Bell as MP.
Labour party members in the town voted him in at a hustings event today.
Mr McDonald, a solicitor for trade union law firm Thompsons, is a former Middlesbrough councillor, chair of the party’s Local Government Committee and governor of Middlesbrough College.
He was shortlisted as Labour candidate for the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland seat in 2010.
The by-election for the Middlesbrough seat is expected to take place on November 29.
