LITTLE SPOOKS: WITH Halloween and Guy Fawkes’ Night just around the corner, Hartlepool’s libraries have lined up a host of fun activities to keep youngsters happy over the half-term holidays. Painting ghostly figures, fireworks craft activities and Halloween read and rhyme sessions are just some of what’s in store. There are also non-spooky sessions for the very young. All the events are free except where indicated, but some must be booked in advance by contacting the relevant library. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult. Residents can call into their nearest library for details of events from Monday, October 29 until Friday, November 2.

MISCHIEF AVERTED: A dispersal order has been brought in to combat anti-social behaviour in Middlesbrough. The order for Gresham Ward will run from 00.01am Friday, October 26 until 11.59pm Wednesday, November 7. It gives police powers to ask anyone in groups of two or more to leave any area that the dispersal order covers. Anyone who is requested to leave is asked on the grounds that police believe that their presence is, or is likely to cause any members of the public to be intimidated, harassed, alarmed or distressed.
