DRIVERS with illegal number plates will be targeted in a police operation this week.
Officers from Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit will be stopping vehicles with misrepresented number plates and informing drivers of the law.
Drivers who do not display their number plates properly will be targeted, as well as those whose plates have an incorrect font, are the wrong size, have no BS mark, have graphics or badges displayed, have incorrectly located screws, or carry no makers information.
The operation will take place from Monday October 22 to Sunday October 28.
Drivers’ details will be taken by police and they could receive a fixed penalty or be reported for summons.
