MORE than £20,000 has been raised at a ball.

The Touch of Class Ball, held at Gisborough Hall Hotel in Guisborough on October 6, has raised £20,870 for the Holistic Cancer Care Centre at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The event was organised by Steven Bell, owner of Chapters Hotel and Restaurant in Stokesley and his brother Peter.

Over the last seven years they have raised £134,300.

This year’s ball was hosted by radio presenter Judie McCourt and actress Elizabeth Carling.

There was live entertainment, a fundraising casino, actions and raffles. As the event was themed Proud to be British, an additional donation of £1,000 was presented to Help for Heroes.

Steven Bell, who is patron of the holistic cancer care charity, said: “I would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s event and particular thanks goes to the people who are there every year and all those who kindly donated prizes.”

The Holistic Cancer Care Centre uses therapies that complement orthodox cancer treatments and supports patients through the physical and emotional side effects that experiencing a cancer diagnosis brings.

Lynne Gray, deputy manager at the holistic centre, said: “To have raised the £113,500 over the previous six years is a tremendous achievement, but to then again hit a target over £20,000 this year is just unbelievable - especially in the current economic climate”.
