POLICE have issued special orders to clamp down on anti-social behaviour during the bonfire night period.

Cleveland Police will use dispersal orders for areas of Marton, Nunthorpe and Parkway, in the Middlesbrough area.

A police spokesman said there had been trouble in both areas in the run up to bonfire night in previous years.

The orders for Marton, Nunthorpe and Parkway will run from Monday, October 29 until Tuesday, November 6.

They give police powers to ask anyone in groups of two or more to leave any area that the dispersal order comes under.

If an officer asks someone to leave the area or they return within the time that they have been told to stay away, they may be arrested.

Neighbourhood Policing Officer, Sgt Brian Hallas, said: “These dispersal orders are being put in place in response to what local people have told us and it is hoped that they will help us to improve the area that they live in.

“We will not tolerate anti-social or nuisance behaviour and will use the powers available to us to deal firmly with those individuals who feel that they can continue to cause problems for residents in these areas.”
