A NEW project is aiming to help people to know where they can shop to find ethically produced food, drink and goods.
Mapping Fairtrade In Middlesbrough is the brainchild of Cherie Kemp of Middlesbrough Environment City.
She is hoping to produce a map of the shops, eateries, outlets and businesses around the town where residents and visitors can find a Fairtrade coffee, snack or bite to eat.
The map would also include sellers of Fairtrade clothing, gifts and other products.
She would like to hear from stockists of any Fairtrade products so they can be added to the map which will be the first of its kind in the town.
“People are increasingly aware of the environment and the conditions in which people live and work,” she said.
“They also like to know where the money they spend actually goes, and that producers of food and drink receive a fair deal and are not exploited for profit.
“I’d like to be able to produce a map that helps those who want to find and use Fairtrade outlets.”
