STOCKTON’S mayor is holding a duck race on Stockton’s Riverside to raise money for three Armed Forces charities.
Councillor Lynne Apedaile will launch the ducks into the River Tees from Castlegate Quay, Stockton, on Saturday, at 12.30pm.
The ducks must travel 200 metres, with the first handful to cross the finishing line winning a prize. The ducks are on sale at Stockton Market, on Wednesday, from Stockton council and on the day. Each duck costs £1, but firms can buy larger, corporate ducks for £100. All proceeds will go towards The Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen Families Association, The Rifles Care for Casualties and The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.
