HUNDREDS of people took part in a Sunflower Memory Walk yesterday to raise awareness of Teesside Hospice.
Television presenter Kirsten O’Brien recited a poem before the walk started, followed by a minute of silence before a balloon release signified the start in Albert Park, Middlesbrough.
The walk is part of the hospice’s annual Sunflower Appeal, this month and next month, in the hope that everyone in Teesside will give a donation to help nurses provide more free care to people with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
A door-to-door collection is one of many activities and events taking place as part of the appeal.
