BARONESS Tanni Grey-Thompson has given a talk to teenagers inspired by the Olympic Games.
The paralympian spoke to pupils at St Michael's RC School, in Billingham, which has adopted the Olympic Games as their theme for the year.
The school has tried to inspire youngsters to come up with entrepeneurial ideas with an Olympic Games theme.
Each term, one pupil from each year is allowed to wear a tie with a colour of one of the five Olympic rings. The pupil has to be nominated by a teacher and each of the colours represents a different virtue: inspiration, respect, achievement, friendship and community. Every pupil awarded the special tie is allowed to wear it for the entire term.
Tony Carroll, teacher at the school, said Baroness Tanni, a wheelchair user, spoke to two year groups and all the students who had been awarded the Olympic ties.
He said: "She was great. She talked about her life and career and really inspired the students. She took the time to talk to them in a Q&A session afterwards and gave out certificates. It was fantastic to have her in our school, and the students really took a lot from it."
