NO more dog control areas will be introduced in Middlesbrough unless problems caused by irresponsible pet owners escalate.
Since August 2007, Dog Control Orders have been imposed in the town's cemetery and crematorium grounds, Albert Park and in Centre Square, after a savage fight between two hounds which resulted in both animals being put down.
In those zones owners have to keep pets on a lead and pick up its faeces, or face a £80 fixed penalty notice or prosecution.
Middlesbrough Council carried out a month-long consultation and sent out 225 letters calling for evidence that could prompt more orders or maintain the status quo, which produced only nine responses.
Councillor Julia Rostron, said: "No one is keen they are introduced anywhere else."
