A MUSEUM marking 450 years of education in Guisborough has opened its doors.
The Prior Pursglove College Museum will showcase the long and fascinating history of education through the ages.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and in partnership with Guisborough Museum and the Gisborough Priory Project, the temporary museum will bring the college's 450th anniversary celebrations to a close.
Marie Prior, cultural heritage education officer at the college, said: "We are very pleased to have been granted funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
"Itnot only means that we can begin the process of recording, conserving and preserving our archive - which dates back to 1301 - but it has also enabled us to put together this exhibition.
"It is a wonderful opportunity for the college, and we hope that it will raise the profile of our archive, and of the history of Guisborough as a whole."
The museum will open until December 21, Tuesday toSaturday, from 10am to 4pm, and will be staffed by volunteers. Admission and activities will be free.
It will host talks, miniconcerts by student musicians, traditional craft demonstrations and drop-in workshops on medieval architecture and Victorian childhood. It will also show exhibitions by Gisborough Priory Project and Guisborough Museum.
